Hi, I'm Linnea, an atheist with pagan tendencies (if I worship anything, I worship nature). I was raised in a religious vacuum, and now attend a UU church. I have a strange fascination with fundies and ex-fundies.
I have a husband, a 13-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son, a dog, two cats, and a bunch of chickens.
By the way, Steve, "penultimate" is one of my favorite words. It's almost as good as "antepenultimate".

As the only current moderator, I must protest against such strong language!

Hey; I'm Kathryn. I'm 25, domestically-partnered (we had a wedding-like commitment ceremony this summer, but we didn't make it legal and calling him my 'husband' squicks me out), no kids. I'm defending my master's thesis in a couple weeks, then I'll be an out-of-work itinerant ecologist. I teach biology to freshmen.
Religiously, I am...confused. I was raised in the (non-fundie, Calvinist) Christian Reformed Church, and later my parents turned (slightly more fundie, but still relatively mainstream) evangelical. I was sent to Christian school through 12th grade, and voluntarily went to a Christian (non-fundie, rigorous, Reformed) college. Not exactly sure of how I identify now, but it's not Christian.
I love Lake Michigan, and crows, and seagulls, and also woodchucks.

Hi all!!!! My name is Stephanie. I am 25 and in a relationship with a fantastic guy. No kids yet but I will eventually convince him I am currently in college finishing up my last year for my bachelors in Forensic Anthropology and German Language. I am originally from Germany and have lived in the US for the last 13 years. Raised Fundamental Baptist but now and not really sure. I lean towards Wicca/Paganism but I am not really invested in any type of religion......still trying them all out.

Hello Laura and all, I am happy to find this forum! I've been looking on and off for a place to land in cyberspace where I can connect with a smaller group of people...although, there's quite a bit of potential here for some serious growth...with similarities, differences, and the intelligence to handle both in a grown-up way. My greatest gift to the world is my happiness. I truly am someone who needs to be happy to grow into my greatest potential. I threw off my Baptist views about a year and a half ago and that has liberated my happiness in many different ways. Hi, my name is Julie and I'm a recovering Christian "Recovering" because I have a number of default thoughts and behaviors that just need to go or be modified. I'm 38, married, a musician, a runner, a kid-therapist, an appreciator of the humanities, and learning that unconventional thinking is sometimes a powerful thing. I believe that our lives should be guided by morals so we as humans can evolve beyond needing laws. I also believe in balance and compassion. I still haven't told my devout, divorced Christian parents about my choice to leave the faith. I am in a position where I told my highly aware/honorable/unconventional husband that I would give up our 13 year marriage (just a tool, really) to save our relationship. Enter "taking some time away from each other" starting Christmas day. A guiding saying for me is "I have faith in what is real, trust in what is proven, hope for what is possible, and dreams for what is not impossible." I'm pretty sure I made this particular one up, so it feels integrated into my psyche. As an introvert, I appreciate the fairly anonymous forum method of interacting with people. I intend for it to help me be more aware of my own thoughts and feelings so I can feel more genuine and assertive out in the real world. Thanks for building this, Laura. I look forward to connecting.

hi, Julie, sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. You are definitely welcome to post anything you need here. I completely understand what you mean, being a former Baptist myself. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

And crap, this is actually Laura, who is married to Steve, and currently borrowing his computer. Didn't realize it was Steve that was logged in. I expect that to happen occasionally. Whoops!
